Pirineus Expedition

Arrival in Cadaqués (Catalonia/Spain) at 5:00 pm, reception of participants at the hotel, document checks and delivery of support material for participants and vehicles (t-shirts and sticker kit). With the group assembled, we will have a welcome briefing, followed by dinner and accommodation in hotel.

Cadaqués is the village next to the Mediterranean where we departed for the Pyrenees Expedition. We quickly enter fantastic off-road tracks through the Cap Creus peninsula, followed by stops at the hermitage of Sant Silvestre and the monastery of Sant Quirze de Colera, we continue through vineyards and wheat fields that remind us of Italian Tuscany. Picnic lunch will be overlooking the stunning Castellfollit de La Roca, then we continue to the picturesque village of Berget. We will start on the high mountain slopes that will take us to the La Molina ski resort. We end the day with dinner and hotel accommodation.

After breakfast we set off towards Puigcerdà, a place for winter holidays and sunny weekends for the Catalan elites, then we will begin an off-road climb, through pine and oak trees, which will take us to Andorra. We will cross the border between Spain and Andorra, where only herds of cows can see us in the distance, and we will “climb” the famous Pic Negre and its 2,605 m altitude. We will stop in Andorra la Vella for some quick shopping and head to the fantastic Valle de Arán, one of the best kept natural secrets in all of Spain. We ended the day in Arties with dinner and hotel accommodation.

We leave Arties along off-road trails towards the beautiful city of Vielha (capital of the Valle de Arán region) and stopping at the magnificent Saut Deth Pish waterfall. We leave Catalonia behind and head to Aragon and the Llauset dam, the place where the most fearless climbers set off in search of the Aneto peak (the highest in the Pyrenees at 3,404m). We continue along off-road trails that take us to the San Juan de Plan viewpoint and after a picnic lunch, we cross the stunning Cañón de Añisclo, a place of unique beauty and breathtaking cliffs. The stage ends in Jaca with dinner and hotel accommodation

We start the day early to visit one of the most important cities in the northeast of the Iberian Peninsula and capital of the province of Navarra: Pamplona. The city of Pamplona is known, among other things, for the San Fermín festivals and its bull runs (encierros). We return to the Pyrenees mountain range and visit a traditional cheese factory, where we will taste some D.O.P cheeses. from Idiazabal. We enter the Basque Country and come across a verdant, humid forest that contrasts so much with the beginning of our adventure on the Cap Creus peninsula. We end the day next to the Atlantic in the fantastic “shell” of Donostia (San Sebastián), with dinner and hotel accommodation.

After breakfast at the hotel, we finish the PYRINEUS EXPEDITION, saying goodbye to the group and returning home freely.
